Scheduling a Test

About: Before candidates can sit a test, it needs to be scheduled to be taken on a certain date, or over a date range,  and the candidates who will be taking the chosen test need to be selected. This video demonstrates how to schedule a test, using the Scheduling Wizard in Test Administration.

Objective: By the end of this lesson you will understand the process for scheduling a test using the Test Wizard. You will be guided through selecting the desired centre, subject, and test, before setting the date of the test and selecting the participating candidates. You will also be shown how to schedule the test for invigilation.

Next Steps: Try scheduling a test of your own. Once you have done that, take the other lessons in the Test Administration and Delivery course, including those on Invigilation, Marking, and Moderation. You may also find the lesson on ‘Printing an Invigilation Pack’ useful.

Printing an Invigilation Pack

About: An invigilation pack can include an attendance register, an invigilation report, and candidate keycode slips which are needed in order to access a test. You can create an invigilation pack containing all, or some of this information, either from selected tests, or using the wizard.

Objective: By the end of this lesson you will be able to generate an invigilation pack from selected tests, and using the wizard. You will also know how to include and exclude some of the information from the invigilation pack if required.

Next Steps: Have a go at generating an invigilation pack for a test you have scheduled. Is all of the available information useful to you, or are there parts that you could exclude from the invigilation pack?

Downloading a Test in Advance

About: This lesson will explain how to download a test to SecureClient in advance, which can then be taken completely offline. This is particularly useful for centres that have a slow or unreliable internet connection, or if you want to ensure that candidate’s do not have to wait at the start of the session for the test to download to SecureClient.

Objective: By the end of this lesson you will know how to download a test in advance so that it can be taken offline.

Next Steps: Think about whether this may be necessary for any of your associated centres. Try downloading a test in advance to become familiar with the process.

The Candidate Experience (Flash)

About: This lesson demonstrates how candidates interact with Surpass tests running the Flash driver. The video follows the candidate’s journey from entering a test to submitting their completed script. You will also see the impact of certain test creation decisions (e.g., section and breaks) and invigilation actions. This video focuses on the test experience in web delivery/SecureClient and does not cover the SurpassDelivery app.

Objective: After this lesson, you will know the basic differences between web delivery and SecureClient and understand how candidates enter, take, and submit Surpass tests.

Next Steps: Learn how to implement some of the settings seen in this video by exploring the ‘Test Creation’ and ‘Test Administration’ courses on the Learning Portal. Alternatively, read the following articles on the Knowledge Base:
